Hello friends!
Pecan pie is a cherished southern holiday pie. It’s as sweet and comforting as southern culture itself, and with gussied up pecans decorated atop, it’s always a delightful addition to any dessert table. However for as fancy as pecan pie may appear be, it truly is a surprisingly easy pie to bake. In my opinion, the key to making a really delicious pecan pie comes down to one very special ingredient.
To make a pecan pie over-the-top delicious, you will want to use pecans grown on trees in southern dirt, on local farms. There really is a distinctive difference in flavor between most store bought pecans and pecans grown on these grand old southern pecan trees. Where most store bought pecans are dry, local pecans are buttery. And where some pecans are crunchy and hard to bite, fresh local pecans are so tender they almost melt in your mouth.
In my honest opinion, the very best pecans on the market come from a 100 year old family-owned pecan company called Golden Kernel. This South Carolina based farm grows pecans that are so exquisite, you can taste a century’s worth of expertise and care in the pecans. It sounds crazy, I get it, but you will know exactly what I mean when you taste the difference between their pecans and those you can find at a big box store.
Anyways, even if you aren’t a seasoned baker, adding the right pecans to a good pecan pie recipe will yield you one outrageously delicious dessert. My favorite pecan pie recipe comes from Pillsbury, and is simple, ooey-gooey, and sweet. You can add all kinds of additional ingredients to this recipe if you like, but as far as I’m concerned, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! Here is the recipe…
