Last night I was lying in bed with my son at the Grove Park Inn, and the television was on with the volume off. Suddenly, my two year-old yelled, “Arbys!” I looked at the tv, and the Arby’s logo was on the screen. Knowing that my son can’t read at his age, I was wondering if I actually heard him say “Arby’s,” or perhaps it was just my sleepy mom-brain playing tricks on me. I kid you not, then my son said, “WE HAVE THE MEATS!” Oh no!! Not only did he recognize the logo, but he knew the tagline! At that moment, I realized my kids need less time with devices and screens, and more old fashioned quality time. And if you are like me, instead of getting our children more tech toys for Christmas, they need gifts that encourage that quality time, and well, more BAKING!
If you have a child that loves baking, this gift guide is for you. We have collected a few of our favorite gifts and stocking stuffers for the little bakers in your family, and they are all guaranteed to get your kids away from the TV and iPad!
For anyone that wants to begin frosting cupcakes and cakes like a boss, you have to have a good set of piping tips, like these from Ateco. From fancy flowers to basket weaves or just crazy frosting fun, this set will help make your child’s frosting dreams a reality.
You also can’t go wrong with stocking stuffers like these colorful whisks or these sweet cookie cutters for baking cookies or dog treats. We also love this heart shaped baking pan for just about any occasion, and of course this classic cake stand for putting your child’s wild baking creations on display.
As a modern mom, I have an appreciation for the occasional device or tv distraction for my children. However, when my toddler recited the whole Arby’s marketing campaign, It reminded me why I truly love the quality time that comes with baking with kids. I hope that by way of one of our recipes or one of our favorite gifts, you will bake up sweet memories and have a great time with your children in the kitchen. Happy shopping!
Love,
Emily
